📣 Primary 7 Showcase Week!

6th Mar 2026
We are excited to share what our fantastic Primary 7 pupils have been learning and experiencing this term. It has been a busy, creative and meaningful few months as they continue their final year in primary school with great enthusiasm!
🚢 WAU – The Titanic
Our World Around Us topic this term has been The Titanic. The children explored the history of this iconic ship, learning about its construction, its journey, and the lives of the passengers on board. They have also examined the different causes that led to the sinking of the Titanic and discussed who may have been to blame for this infamous tragedy.
✍️ Literacy – Instructional Writing
In Literacy, P7 focused on Instructional Writing, linking perfectly with Pancake Tuesday. Pupils designed their own pancake recipes, wrote clear instructions, and then put their creations to the test. The results were both impressive and delicious!
🔢 Numeracy – Shape & Measure
This term in Numeracy, pupils have been exploring:
▪️ 2D and 3D shapes and classifying them
▪️ Shape nets, learning how 3D shapes are formed
▪️ Weight, practising estimating and accurately measuring using scales
Hands‑on tasks helped pupils apply their learning to real‑life contexts and develop problem‑solving skills.
💻 ICT & Internet Safety
In ICT, the children used the J2Easy Titanic Passenger Database to research real passengers aboard the ship and created engaging Titanic infographics to display their findings.
Internet safety has been a central theme throughout the term, woven into ICT and Shared Education. Pupils learned how to protect personal information, spot online risks, and make sensible choices when using social media, messaging platforms, and gaming communities. They also explored digital footprints, cyberbullying and how to seek support if something online makes them feel uncomfortable. These lessons are helping them become confident, responsible and safe digital citizens.
🎨 Art – Titanic Projects
Our budding artists produced fantastic Titanic‑themed artwork, demonstrating creativity, imagination and a real grasp of the topic. Pupils experimented with different artistic techniques, from colour blending to sketching and shading, creating striking pieces that showcased key scenes and moments from the Titanic story.
🏊 PE – Swimming & Football
Primary 7 have been thoroughly enjoying their swimming lessons this term, growing in confidence and skill in the water. Some pupils also had the opportunity to represent the school in indoor football tournaments — well done to everyone involved!
🏫 Transition to Secondary School
As the year progresses, the children have begun thinking ahead to their move to secondary school. They have been attending various open days, including the Holy Trinity Taster Day, and reflecting on where they hope to continue their learning journey next year. Excitement is building as they look forward to the next chapter!
⛪ Preparation for Confirmation
P7 have also been preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. They have been learning about the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit, reflecting on how these guide them in daily life. Through discussions, prayer and thoughtful activities, the children have been deepening their understanding of their faith and strengthening their spiritual journey as they prepare for this important sacrament.
🌟 Well done, Primary 7!
We are incredibly proud of how hard our P7 pupils have worked this term. They continue to impress us with their dedication, curiosity, and growing independence as they prepare for their next big step.
Keep up the great work!
