⭐️Primary 4 showcase⭐️

6th Jun 2025

This term has been extra special for us. We celebrated the beautiful sacrament of First Holy Communion. All the children were so well behaved and made us incredibly proud.

In Numeracy, we’ve been busy learning about bar charts and tally charts. We learned how to collect and display data clearly. The sunshine gave us the perfect chance to take our learning outdoors this term, we used the new playground markings to practise numeracy in fun and active ways. Working in teams, we solved a variety of multiplication challenges.

In Literacy, we explored the novel ‘The Boy Who Grew Dragons’ and used it as inspiration for creative writing. Each of us imagined a special dragon of our own and described its personality using powerful adjectives, verbs and adverbs. We thought carefully about where our dragons would live and plotted these locations on a map. We also explored our debating skills with discussions around topics like “Are video games harmful or healthy?”, “Should junk food be banned?”, and “Should children have extra playtime outside?” The pupils shared thoughtful arguments and listened to different points of view.

In STEM we used problem-solving skills to design and build a suitable habitat for a dragon. To link with our topic this term, we took part in an exciting dragon egg hunt in the school garden! Hidden among the plants were magical eggs waiting to be discovered. After finding them, we built our very own dragon caves and houses. We thought carefully about the materials and what our dragons would need to feel at home.

In PE, we began our first swimming lessons and really enjoyed them. We have been changing independently and being responsible. We are listening to swimming instructors and working on our basic swimming skills.

In our recent ICT lessons, the students collaborated in pairs to create an ebook about weather using the Book Creator app. They incorporated videos of sunshine and rain, added voiceovers and included relevant images and clips from Google. We then presented our ebooks to our peers, sharing our work and learning together.

Primary 4 were delighted to welcome Amma for a fantastic Stop Motion Animation workshop. All three classes got hands-on with tripods, props and colourful backgrounds to bring their very own dragon stories to life.
Working in groups, the pupils designed and animated their scenes, then exported their creations into iMovie where they added sound effects, music and titles to complete their mini masterpieces.
It was a morning full of creativity, teamwork and lots of fun. A huge thank you to Amma for such a great session!
Lots happening everyday in Primary 4 as we continue to get ready to show our greatness in Primary 5.
